Richard E. Jacobs was an American businessman and real estate developer. He was born on May 10, 1926 and passed away on June 11, 2009. He founded Richard E. Jacobs Group, a real estate development and management company, which developed some of the largest shopping centers in the United States such as the Mall of America in Minnesota and the West Edmonton Mall in Canada. Jacobs was also a philanthropist who donated millions of dollars to various organizations including hospitals and educational institutions. In addition, he was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Navy. Jacobs was married to his wife, Adrianne, for over 60 years and had five children.
